What to see in Mallorca in Winter

The Island has many exits to the sea that come from the mountain. Those cute small rivers are being called “torrents” and they’re made of rain water that fills them.

The main mountain range in Mallorca (also known as “Sa Roqueta”, which means Small Rock) is the Serra de Tramuntana and in there we’ll find some of the rises we mentioned before, where the “torrents” start their path. On their way they descend the green fields through high cascades and waterfalls that are reborn after a few days of intense rains.

It’s unusual that it’d rain heavily in Mallorca, so if you ever find yourself in Mallorca in these days ENJOY, don’t be sad cause there’s no sun or beach.

Here you are a few routes you can do in Mallorca in Winter:

Es Salt des Freu

You can get to at Es Salt des Freu after a short and easy excursion that only lasts from 20 to 30 minutes through the Coa Negra Torrent. This hike is pretty smooth and you’ll be able to see the prettiest views made by green meadows, pines, holm oaks and olive trees.

During the hike we’ll find the classic stone walls, some ruins from old houses named “Cases des Freu (houses of the Freu)” and other classic elements from the Majorcan architecture.

At the end of this nice path we’ll be right on top of the huge waterfall. With 7 meters tall and awesome views waiting for you, we can ensure you that Es Salt des Freu will be one of the most incredible hikes you can do with the whole family.

Fonts Ufanes

The Font Ufanes can be found in Campanet, a lovely town located in the North of Majorca, concretely in the Gabellí Petit Finca. These fountains are set as Natural Monument since 2011 due to its rare existence and its beauty cause after every heavy rain episode they “explode” from the underground.

This phenomenon represents a high surprise for all its visitors that go to visit them in the moment they explode. This spectacle happens from 2 to 7 times per year due to the pressure the rain has from being accumulated underground.
