Then, what should we know about vacation rental?

How can I make a reservation with Vacalia?

Booking with Vacalia is very easy. You just have to choose the property that best fits you and follow the reservation process step by step, where you will be able to check all the payment details as well as the ways of payment. You must pay the 30% of the total reservation at the end of the process.

When we receive the 30% of the total reservation we will send you the payment confirmation. If you do not pay within the first 7 days after booking, the reservation will be automatically cancelled and we will send you the cancellation notice.

Finally, if your reservation was made in a satisfactory manner, you will only have to pay the remaining 70% 35 days before check-in. Our reservations department will explain you everything about the property, how to get there and any other questions you may have.

Is there a minimum stay?

The minimum stay depends on the property you want to reserve, although the usual minimum stay is 7 days. This information can be found in the file of the selected property.

Can I have my pets with me at the finca or villa?

Depending on the vacation property you choose, you take your pets with you or not. The corresponding information can be found in the file of the chosen property.

If you only want to consider those properties where pets are welcome, you can filter the search by selecting “Pets” in Services.

What can I find at the finca or villa?

In our villas or fincas in Mallorca, as well as in our villas in Costa Blanca, you will find all basic utensils needed for the rooms, kitchen, swimming pool,... although you will find more specific details in the file of each property or villa.

In addition, all our properties are provided with enough bath and bed linen. You will also find pool towels in some of them, but we recommend bringing your own pool towels with you.

If you have any special request, please do not hesitate to contact us.

What happens in case there is something wrong in the property or if there is any emergency?

In case you have any problem, please do not hesitate to contact us. Before your arrival, you will be informed of a 24 hours telephone number assisted by multilingual staff in English, German, French, Spanish or Catalan.

How can I go to the finca or villa?

In Vacalia.com we have a service of Transfers in order to carry you from the airport arrivals terminal to your finca or villa in Mallorca and vice versa (you must book it before your arrival). Besides, if you need transportation to move around the island, we can also offer you the same service of transfers so that you don’t have to worry about driving or about your cases. Our reservations department will inform you in that regard once you have reserved your finca.

If you love biking, we also have a rent a bike service for you! You can hire this service yourself at any moment either from our website or with our reservations department.

Do I have to pay any kind of deposit before my arrival?

All of our properties need a minimum security deposit of 300€ that must be paid 7 days before your arrival. This amount will be returned after the check-out and once we have checked the good state of the accommodation (within the following 7 days after your departure).

Where do I have to collect the keys of the property?

The keys will be handed over always at the property itself. You will be informed about what you have to do together with the reservation information and it will be provided in the travel documents when the reservation has been fully paid.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Our check-in and check-out times are always the same. The check-in is from 4 p.m. and the check-out must be before 10 a.m. There is no problem regarding the keys hand over, but if you have any doubt, do not hesitate to contact our reservations department. In some fincas, late check-in after midnight may have an extra charge of 50 euros (please, consult our reservations department).

Is there any kind of tax in Mallorca that I should know?

In Mallorca we have the so called “Ecotasa”, the environmental tax of the Balearic Islands. This tax must be paid before your arrival (our reservations department will inform you about the payment process) and it is applied to all guests over 14 years old.

The Ecotasa fee is 2.20€ per night and 1.10€ per night from the 9th night on (included VAT).

How should I deal with insects?

Being Mallorca an island, we must understand that there is a lot of humidity, mainly in the summer season. Insects usually appear almost always, especially if you are in the countryside since this is its natural habitat.

It is usual to find ants, flies, mosquitoes, bees and wasps. You don’t have to alarm because, unless you are allergic to their bites, there are no dangerous insects.

We recommend not leaving food on tables and countertops or outdoors (be careful with the bread!) and don’t leave water in little containers (where mosquitoes can breed). We also recommend acquiring mosquito repellent for the house as well as for your skin. This is the way to maintain them aside and avoid their bites.

How much does the air-conditioning cost?

It depends on every house. In some cases, this extra fee is already included, while in others you must pay an amount for its use.

How can I find the way to the accommodation and get the keys?

You will be given the complete travel information where you will find the coordinates of the corresponding finca.

How is the weather in Mallorca?

Weather in Mallorca is usually stable, although you must take into account that there are usually heat waves during the months of July and August. Bring with you hats, parasols and any other stuff to protect you from the sun. You should not sunbathe from 12 to 4 p.m. because you can suffer severe sunburn. It is very important to stay hydrated. In order to avoid losing fluids, you should drink as much water as possible during the day.

In winter, it can get very cold on the island and it can even snow. Although many houses are equipped with central heating, do not think that you can use short sleeves inside the house, as you do in the north. It must be taken into account that the way in which the houses are built is different and temperature indoors will not be as high as in a house in the north. In addition, you should consider air humidity.

Children safety

Pool. Never leave the children unattended in the pool. Remember that the pools are private property and you must be careful with accidents. Besides, if you notice colour of the water changes, inform us as soon as possible. If the water is not treated immediately, it may take several days to have the corresponding regulated pH.

Water in Mallorca

We must take care of the environment, specially in the summer. This is the reason why we ask you to care for our water resources, specially when having a shower. Water is a scarce and precious commodity and we have risk of drought in Mallorca.

Besides, keep in mind that tap water in Mallorca is not very good to drink, so it is better to buy bottled water.

Airborne noise

Probably, you may hear the planes going by if you are in air traffic areas such as Costitx, Santa Eugènia or Sencelles. Do not be surprised because it is a very traveled island with many planes, mainly in summer.

Farm animals in rural properties

Many rural fincas in Mallorca are located within a property where animals like goats, sheep or chickens cal also be found. This is very usual in the island.

Mobile coverage and Internet connection

In some places around Mallorca, mobile coverage is very weak. Depending on the location of the property, the coverage will be more or less good, so you won’t be able to work or download heavy documents (like TV series or films). If it is a work trip we recommend locations with coverage.

Use of butane gas

Are you familiar with the butane gas? Many properties use this system to heat the water or to cook in the kitchen. If you do not know it, do not worry because we will send you the instructions for use.

How do I get rid of the rubbish?

In Mallorca, all products are recycled. That is the reason why you must separate the products according to whether they are plastic containers, glass (bottles), paper or cardboard and organic. Afterwards, you must go the the nearest recycling point (called PUNT VERD) where you can throw away the rubbish.

Take care of the property

The properties usually have very well maintained rustic furniture. On many occasions, this is inherited and it is highly valued by the owners. Please, take care of it. We would be very grateful if you take care of the property as if it were yours. The property belongs to someone who really loves it. Remember that the property is as if it were your own home, without services, so you must cater yourself.
